ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Mr. Okoth Osewe was born on
November 29, 1965 in Kisumu city, Kenya to the
late Mr. Alfred O.J Osewe and Mrs. Alice Atieno Osewe.
He is a Veterinarian with
background in Journalism, Information Technology
(Computer applications) and
Political science.
He fled to exile in Sweden in 1992 from the dictatorship
of former President Daniel
arap Moi just before the first multiparty election in
Kenya. Upon his arrival in
Sweden, Mr. Osewe continued with political activism, in
the process, sitting in
core leaderships of various Kenyan political and human
rights organizations in
Sweden. He has also been active in several Swedish
groups mainly involved in the
struggle against; racism in Sweden, Refugee and
Immigrant rights.
Before he fled Kenya, he was the Secretary of the Nyanza
Table Tennis Association
while in Sweden, he has occupied the position of
Secretary in the Kenya
Human Rights Organization in Sweden (KHEROS), Kenya
Youth Movement in
Sweden (KYMS), Kenya United Welfare Association (KUWA),
Kenya Scandinavia
Democratic Movement (KESDEMO), Kenya Asylum Committee
(KAC), Africa
Research and Information Bureau in Sweden (ARIBIS) among
others. He has also
been active in the Justice Socialist Party in Sweden.
Mr. Osewe has published several articles in different
publications while he has
been Editor in Chief and founder of three Kenyan
publications and one African
Newsletter in Sweden namely: Harakati, the mouthpiece of
KYMS, KUWA
Bulletin Newsletter, Mapambano Newsletter and African
Viewpoint published by
ARIBIS. In Sweden, Mr. Osewe has sat in the Editorial
Board of Offensiv Weekly
published by the Swedish section of the Committee for a
Workers’ International
(CWI).
At the time of writing, Mr. Osewe maintained several
websites including
